Reverse Osmosis Treatment

In comparison to distillation and electrodialysis, RO is relatively new, with successful commercialization occurring in the early 1970s. RO is a membrane separation process in which the water from a pressurized saline solution is separated from the solutes (the dissolved material) by flowing through a membrane. No heating or phase change is necessary for this separation. The major energy required for desalting is for pressurizing the feed water.
In practice, the saline feed water is pumped into a closed vessel where it is pressurized against the membrane. As a portion of the water passes through the membrane, the remaining feed water increases in salt content. At the same time, a portion of this feed water is discharged without passing through the membrane.
TETRA’S range of high performance reverse osmosis chemicals are based on advanced formulations and include:
• RO membrane cleaners and detergents
• Scale inhibitors and antiscalants
• Corrosion inhibitors
• Biocides
• Antifoulants
• de-chlorinators and flocculants.
TETRA’S advanced RO chemical formulations have been developed specifically for the international membrane filtration and reverse osmosis markets and offer several key performance benefits including cost, convenience, operational performance and environmental impact.
TETRA’S advanced reverse osmosis chemicals are scientifically formulated to help optimise reverse osmosis recovery rates, improve operational efficiency of RO plant installations; and reduce problems associated with scaling and corrosion
